Doc Adams took Cesar out for a drink to explain what the new army had to offer. Everything Doc told him seemed fantastic and a not unbelievable. The work would be hard but the payoff would be worth it, not to mention the fact that he would have the honour of knowing he was fighting for his country. Then Doc walked him out to the parking lot where their respective cars were – they had only had two drinks apiece and were fine to drive – wrapped an arm around his shoulder and said, “Your country thanks you, son.”
And then Cesar’s world went black and he had no idea for how long.
